Sea Jellies are amazing creatures. They are 95% water with no brain, heart, or bones. Jellyfish have been around for 650 million years, which means they out-date dinosaurs and sharks! The sea jelly is a powerful symbol for working with mother Nature and the currents of every day life. It teaches us not to fight the waves around us, but to use it to our advantage. They also teach us that the most vulnerable individuals can still come with barbs - or quite a sting - to protect themselves! There are some who believe that the tapestry of true spiritual knowledge is held within the transparent form of the jellyfish.
I had a lot of fun creating this bracelet. I decided to do uneven background burning in order to make it look like they were swimming in murky water. I really like how it turned out, and I can’t wait to see who buys this!
Embroidered silk bracelets by textile artist Bozena Wojtaszek in Lodzkie, Poland.
“Made from my collection of silks. Intricate quilting and embroidery make it to look like a sophisticated piece of art rather than funky textile gadget. Inside finishing with raw silk makes it very comfortable to your skin. It is rigid enough to keep its shape but also flexible for bigger comfort in use.”
